The platform already provides telematics, dashcams, ELD compliance, and dispatch tools for fleets. The new AI layer is designed to automate tasks that fleet managers currently handle manually after reviewing data.
Motive has not published subscription pricing for the new AI features. The company did not specify which plan tiers will include the automation tools or whether they will carry an add-on fee. Existing Motive customers pay monthly per-truck rates that vary by module (ELD, dashcam, GPS tracking, dispatch). A 5-truck fleet typically runs $150 to $300 per month for the base ELD and GPS bundle, based on 2025 pricing disclosed in user forums. AI features may sit on top of that.
How does AI action differ from AI insights?
Motive's earlier AI tools analyzed driver behavior, fuel consumption, and maintenance patterns, then displayed recommendations in a dashboard. A fleet manager still had to click through, review the data, and manually assign a task or send a message.
The new AI layer is built to complete the loop. When the system flags a safety event (hard braking, following distance violation, distracted driving), it can automatically trigger a coaching workflow, assign a follow-up task to a dispatcher, or schedule a vehicle inspection without human input. What fleets should watch for
Motive has not published a feature list or a rollout timeline. Fleets already using the platform should ask their account rep three questions before the AI tools go live:
- Which actions can the AI execute without approval (coaching assignments, inspection scheduling, route changes)?
- What is the monthly cost per truck, and is it bundled or a la carte?

Fleets shopping for a new TMS or telematics platform should compare Motive's AI roadmap to competitors. Samsara, KeepTruckin (now Motive's direct rival), and Platform Science all announced AI dispatch and safety features in 2025 and early 2026. AI dispatch tools automate back-office work like load assignment and driver communication, but the monthly cost can run $75 to $200 per truck depending on the vendor and the module count.
The announcement did not address integration with third-party load boards, factoring portals, or accounting software. Small fleets that rely on DAT, Truckstop.com, or a factoring company's TMS may find the AI features less useful if they cannot pull data from those systems.

If you run fewer than 10 trucks and currently pay for ELD, GPS, and dashcam separately (common with legacy providers like PeopleNet or Omnitracs), switching to an all-in-one platform with AI automation may save money if the bundled price stays under $200 per truck per month. Above that threshold, the savings from automation need to exceed 3 to 4 hours of dispatch labor per truck per month to break even.
Motive has not published case studies or ROI data for the new AI features. Until those numbers surface, treat the announcement as a product roadmap, not a buying signal.
