Michelin AI assistant reads fleet data, skips the report grind
MyConnectedFleet AI analyzes fuel, driver performance, and trip data in plain language. Closed system keeps customer data inside the platform.

Michelin rolled out an AI assistant inside its MyConnectedFleet telematics platform. The tool reads fuel consumption, driver performance, vehicle usage, and trip activity data and answers questions in plain language, eliminating the need to generate multiple reports.

What does the Michelin AI assistant actually do for a fleet manager?
The AI assistant is built for managers running heavy-duty truck, passenger transportation, and light commercial vehicle fleets. It analyzes the same data streams most telematics platforms already collect (fuel burn, driver behavior, vehicle utilization, trip logs) but surfaces answers without requiring the manager to build custom reports or export spreadsheets.
"The AI Assistant is the natural evolution of our DNA, which is built around supporting our customers," said Sophie Foucque, CEO of Michelin Connected Fleet for Europe, Africa and Australia. "Co-developed with some of our largest customers, it offers a more intuitive way to interact with vehicle usage data, while removing the need to generate multiple reports. Augmented fleet managers can therefore focus fully on the performance of their operations."
Michelin did not disclose pricing, monthly subscription cost, or whether the AI assistant is included in existing MyConnectedFleet subscriptions or sold as an add-on.
How does this compare to other fleet AI tools?
Michelin's closed-system approach contrasts with some other fleet AI deployments. Geotab's AI connector automates fleet data analysis by connecting to external large language models, cutting manual work from weeks to minutes for fleets like Central Transport. The Geotab tool pulls data out of the platform and into an AI agent that can write SQL queries and generate visualizations.
Michelin's assistant keeps data inside the MyConnectedFleet environment. That architecture may appeal to fleets concerned about data leaving their telematics provider, but it also means the assistant is limited to the data Michelin already collects and the questions the model was trained to answer.
Michelin said the platform will continue to expand with additional capabilities based on customer feedback. The company did not specify a roadmap or timeline for new features.
What this means for small fleets shopping telematics
If you run a 1-to-10-truck fleet and you're comparing telematics platforms, the Michelin AI assistant is one more feature to weigh against subscription cost and the data you actually need. Most small fleets don't generate enough reports to justify an AI assistant, they need a platform that surfaces fuel burn, idle time, and driver behavior in a single dashboard without requiring any report generation at all.
Michelin did not disclose whether MyConnectedFleet is sold directly to small fleets or primarily through tire dealers and fleet service providers. If you're already running Michelin tires and your dealer offers the platform, ask whether the AI assistant is included or costs extra, and whether the closed system means you can't export raw data to your own accounting software or TMS platform.
For fleets large enough to employ a dedicated fleet manager who currently spends hours each week building fuel and driver performance reports, the AI assistant could save real time. For owner-operators and small fleets, the value depends entirely on whether the platform's base subscription cost is competitive with simpler telematics tools that already surface the same data without requiring questions or reports.
