Windrose to Start R700 Class 8 EV Assembly in Georgia, Washington by Year-End

The dual-plant strategy puts Windrose assembly capacity on both coasts before the calendar turns to 2027. No production volume targets or plant employment figures have been disclosed.
What the R700 assembly timeline means for fleets
Domestic assembly typically shortens lead times and simplifies warranty service compared to imported units. Fleets ordering R700 tractors in late 2026 or early 2027 would receive trucks built in the U.S., which can reduce parts-supply risk if the tractor shares components with other North American EV platforms.
Windrose has not published R700 specifications, battery capacity in kilowatt-hours, range under loaded conditions, charge time, or MSRP. Without those figures, fleet managers cannot model total cost of ownership or compare the R700 to the Freightliner eCascadia, Volvo VNR Electric, or Nikola Tre BEV.
The company has not disclosed whether the Georgia and Washington plants will handle battery-pack assembly or receive packs from a supplier. Pack serviceability, whether a shop can replace individual modules or must swap the entire pack under warranty, directly affects downtime and repair cost, but Windrose has not released service documentation.

Windrose has not announced dealer or service-center locations, which determines whether a small fleet in Montana or Arkansas can get a disabled R700 back on the road without a 500-mile tow. The company has not published a parts-availability commitment or named its battery-cell supplier.
